About MarathonNorco 

MarathonNorco is an American based manufacturer of aircraft batteries, Christie chargers, and mechanical products, all of which serve commercial and military aviation markets. MarathonNorco traces back its history to 1923 with the formation of Marathon Battery Company (Marathon), and their initial operations consisted of producing carbon-zinc batteries and cells. During World War II, Marathon provided the army with military battery products, and their efforts were recognized when they were presented the Army and Navy “E” award.

In 1948, Marathon began researching a nickel-cadmium battery that would be capable of recharging, and they became the first United States company to produce such batteries the following year. Such nickel-cadmium battery products from Marathon quickly proved popular, and they became suppliers for the United States Army Nike Missile program, the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command, and others.

Leading into the 1970’s, Marathon focused on improving the capabilities of their batteries, increasing their capacity with new materials and types. In 1971, Marathon consolidated most of its operations, and they established a manufacturing plant in Waco, Texas. Leading into the present, MarathonNorco has conducted various acquisitions of companies, furthering their manufacturing and research capabilities while continuing to produce various battery types and other aviation products.
